| The
Cronin Memorial Skating Rink is a Commonwealth of
Massachusetts public ice skating facility,
overseen by the Department
of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). FMC is the
operator of the arena for the DCR.
The arena is a full service skating facility
offering an extensive variety of skating programs for
all ages and abilities. The facility features a pro
shop, facilities for birthday parties, as well as a
snack bar. The Cronin Memorial Skating Rink provides
patrons with affordable recreation in a clean, safe, and
well maintained facility. Take some time to explore our
site and learn about our innovative programs. If you
have any questions, please feel free to call the rink
office or email us at
info@fmcarenas.com.
The original Paul Cronin Memorial Skating Rink, built in
1959, was closed in 2001 when the structure and
mechanical systems failed. Through the extraordinary
efforts of state and community leaders, the commitment
was made to build a new public ice skating rink on the
site of the Cronin Rink. The original building was
demolished in the summer of 2006, and construction began
on the new building immediately thereafter. What stands
now is a 42,000 square foot state of the art ice skating
rink. The impressive facility combines modern user
amenities with an environmentally sensitive and
energy-efficient design.
Some of the features of the new skating rink include:
-
A single 200’ x 85’ NHL regulation size ice surface.
With professional grade dasher boards and spectator
shielding.
-
Six large team changing rooms that include female
changing suites with private showers.
-
Elevated bleacher seating for 500 spectators that
provide excellent viewing sight lines and
accessibility for wheelchairs.
-
A large two story warming area with glass viewing
walls looking into the ice rink area, a concession
stand and a skate shop with 200 pairs of hockey and
figure skates.
-
An energy efficient and environmentally friendly ice
refrigeration system designed to produce a high
quality ice surface year round.
-
High efficiency HVAC systems that include desiccant
dehumidification and energy recovery ventilation to
ensure indoor air quality while reducing energy
consumption.

Becoming a sponsor not only benefits the
communities and youth associations that use the
arena, but it offers the sponsor a young,
affluent audience for its advertising. In 2006,
over 5 million people visited FMC managed
arenas in Massachusetts. It is nearly impossible
for your message not to be seen. Additionally,
your investment contributes to the capital
improvement fund of the arena, enhancing the
quality of the public facility and programs
offered.
